Thank you, Madhu, for inviting me to CoinFerenceX Singapore 2026 at Gardens by the Bay #173

What gives value the strength to endure?

Thank you, Madhu, for inviting me to CoinFerenceX Singapore 2026 at Gardens by the Bay today, 5 October.

Conversations with US and Swiss bankers and crypto founders left me reflecting on the extraordinary possibilities of cryptocurrency powered by blockchain. The rise of Bitcoin and Ethereum has challenged how we think about money, ownership, trust and participation.

For me, one discussion stood out: the importance of connecting digital assets with real-world assets and productive ecosystems.

I believe a stronger foundation for lasting economic value comes from meaningful utility, credible rights, sound governance and real activity—businesses serving customers, infrastructure meeting needs, and communities participating in an economy.

Blockchain can help make those connections more transparent and verifiable. The underlying ecosystem must deliver the value.

We also explored a fascinating question: what could be the next big thing, with the staying power that draws people to Bitcoin or gold?

Gold’s history spans millennia; Bitcoin’s journey is much younger. Both have attracted conviction and scepticism. Their stories invite us to think about what people will continue to trust and value over time.

That question sits at the heart of what we are preparing for at @Thousand Ships: connecting real-world assets, circular infrastructure, trade, hospitality and communities into an ecosystem built for enduring relevance.

Our ambition depends on the partners, builders and communities bringing it to life. We have an ecosystem to thank, and a responsibility to build it well.

Finally, my appreciation goes to the architects whose work still serves us years, decades and centuries later, and to those building today for generations yet to come.
