“Boss, I will run around naked!”
Are you from the baby boomers era?
The 80s are struggling to care for many people. Up above are their parents and down below are their children. Both have expectations laid upon them given the advances in modern society and elevating incomes.
The 90s are still searching for their directions in life given the vast opportunities and pitfalls available until they find their niche.
The 2000s have evolved into the strongest workforce till date. They are a product of our advances, and they know how to allocate and delegate resources in highly effective manners.
The grandparents are at their command and their parents are supporting them financially. Some of them can even tap into uncles and aunties who are in astute positions. They grew up in prosperous times.
They are not strawberry generation. In fact, they have evolved into the strongest workforce where they can survive without a full-time job. They thrive in areas where there aren’t fixed rules and regulations.
What was shunned upon by previous generations like freelance roles, part-time jobs have been made hip and called the gig economy. What was resisted by the baby boomers and us, has been embraced by them.
Those born in the eighties would hear of threats from bosses who would call on them to run naked or suffer the consequences if they miss their sales targets. Bosses and superiors reign supreme and they still exist. Such leaders are fervently coined by the forward-thinking LinkedIn community as, ‘The Outdated Leader’.
Today, the 2000s would instead challenge their supervisors to ‘run naked’ instead if they are able to achieve the sales targets.
They live and breathe challenges just like what we watched on social media. As to why and how they can meet the sales target? They just have to move the powerful resources they have around them in a digital manner.
Most families have shrunk with fewer children than before in developed countries and these young working adults are our own making.
We walk away if we see something isn’t right to the world, to society, to the people around us and to Mother Earth.
Are we ready to manage the new workforce that is highly adaptable and who has no fear to walk away from conditions that are in conflict with their values?
I am Mar Vin Foo 🪟🌿.
Thank you for realising that strawberries aren’t supposed to be described as weak but instead, as sweet and crunchy. Definitely, highly palatable for those who appreciate what is up and coming.
P.S: Kudos to the wise teachers who shared their insightful observations with me.
