blind #inclusivity- WeWalk Cane

#blind#mobility#transportation#inclusivity – “Smartphones are a big part of our lives. Can we do more and expand its potential for others?” Mar Vin, Foo 🌿

Recently, a friend shared with me an interesting innovation that can expand possibilities for our blind friends. I had a maternal granduncle who was blind from young. We had a big extended maternal family with thirty over members.

He was able to remember all of us, always sitting at the entrance of the house and asking if we had our meals. He had limited mobility, but his warmth was radiating.

Our other senses are amplified to make up for the shortcoming of another, so I’m certain he is much more sensitive in picking up other things, which we can’t do despite our sight.

We take our five senses for granted and enjoyed the tremendous convenience from smartphones. Yet, despite the awesomeness, it’s powered by sight and touch that our blind friends cannot fully experience.

Kurstan Ceylan, a Turkish entrepreneur invented an #inclusive product to merge mobile computing with the typical white cane, which the blind use to find their way around.

The usual white cane is like a radar that detects obstacles below waist to feet height levels but doesn’t stop us from knocking into objects or obstacles just like it happened to Kurstan while finding his way in a foreign land attending an event with a smartphone on one hand, listening to GPS location advice and another holding an ordinary cane.

With blind needs in mind, WeWalk arrives to bring about mobility conveniences.

Do you have a blind friend whom you care about?

Drop me a message if you are keen to find out more. I will link you up with Kurstan who is visiting Singapore.
