#97 🌍 Global Minds, Shared Purpose: Reflections from the Tsinghua–INSEAD EMBA 2027 Dinner 🌏 全球视野,共同使命 —— 清华–INSEAD EMBA 2027 晚宴感想

Last evening, I had the privilege of joining fellow members of the Tsinghua–INSEAD EMBA 2027 community for an intimate dinner at South East, NUS Shaw Foundation Alumni House. What began as a simple gathering quickly evolved into a rich exchange of ideas — crossing industries, nations, and belief systems.

🌍 A Truly Global Table

Around the table were leaders and professionals from Beijing, Shanghai, Hubei, Switzerland, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Toronto, and beyond. Industries spanned:

  • Semiconductor
  • Financial advisory
  • Plastics and manufacturing
  • VC and petroleum
  • Insurance
  • Information technology
  • Healthcare and med-tech

Despite our different worlds, there was instant rapport — a curiosity to learn from one another.

Glad to be in the company of great minds.

💭 Conversations That Broadened Horizons

We spoke candidly about:

1. Mental Wellness Across Cultures

Taiwan’s humane approach — where workers with mental health challenges cannot simply be terminated — was contrasted with Singapore’s harsher framing where individuals are sometimes labelled and removed. A reminder that a society’s strength is reflected in how it protects its most vulnerable.

2. The Weight of Work & Study

Many of us juggle demanding careers alongside rigorous studies. Hearing others share their challenges was grounding — and encouraging.

3. A Meeting of Clans, Cultures & Faiths

From the Hakka clan history to the role of Minister Chee Hong Tat in strengthening SFCCA, to discussions on venture funding for worthy causes and communities — the air was filled with heritage, meaning, and purpose.

We also discussed how fund-raising can uplift NGOs, nursing homes, and assisted living organisations, an area I am deeply committed to through my work in employment and career advisory.

Indian Pale Ale Beer – Very fruity and refreshing

⛵ Personal Reflections: Vision, Faith & Responsibility

I also shared something personal with the group — my return to building a start-up after a hiatus from my executive role at Haily.energy.

Our vision:

“A Thousand Ships. A Future for All.”

This idea emerged during a time of prayer and reflection, where themes of resilience, sanctuary, and future readiness came strongly to me. Interestingly, a Taiwanese Christian missionary later shared a prediction video from 2025, asking whether I had received any revelations — a moment that gave me pause and reinforced the calling I felt.

Another moment of reflection came through my eldest son, who once described visions of a land overrun by danger — a metaphor, perhaps, for why future communities may need safe, resilient, self-sustaining havens.

These are personal interpretations, of course, but they shape the purpose behind the “Thousand Ships” vision:

a sanctuary model for energy, food, habitat, and humanity.

🍺 Light Moments Too

Of course, no good conversation is complete without great food and laughter. The Indian Pale Ale (IPA) beer tasted unexpectedly fruity, and everyone at the table — gentlemen and ladies alike — held their liquor well. South East served a memorable exotic fusion menu, perfect for the night.

We even chatted about the iconic Parkview Square and the gothic splendour of ATLAS Bar.

🙏 Gratitude

Nights like this remind me why lifelong learning matters — not just for knowledge, but for the people we meet and the perspectives we exchange.

To all who attended: thank you for the warmth, energy, and sincerity. Here’s to new friendships, shared missions, and the journeys ahead.

  • 保险与 IT

A Thousand Ships. A Future for All.
