1.5 years versus 8 years #experience.
Which will you choose?🤷
This sounds like a #candidate selection post but it isn’t.☝️
Instead, it’s a #reflection post comparing what I experienced in the recent couple of years versus being in a role for 8 years. 💆
Within 18 months and across a few roles, I opened doors to a government agency for hybrid meeting room solutions at the peak of the pandemic; 🎤🎥
I hunted for new logos and got an additional assignment to troubleshoot key deals through effective stakeholder management. Colleagues from Switzerland were happy that I was able to resolve their challenges locally in Singapore. I am glad to earn an accolade from a colleague of mine in the US by reeling in a crucial global deal together with him; 🇨🇭🇺🇲🇸🇬
I was headhunted for a role to provide my insights on developing the business amidst the hybrid cloud landscape. My ideas resonated with the local teams and I was happy to see a colleague doing a transcript of my presentation. The flow and concept must have been good when he requested for my draft deck; 💡🇸🇬🇻🇳🇮🇩🇯🇵🇭🇰
Recreation wise, I did yoga, trekking and futsal (soccer) for the first time. 🧘🏃⚽
I feel healthier and fitter than before with a few kilograms added to my lean frame;
I met new friends and associates across LinkedIn, and from each activity including transportation specialists who believe in technology for public good;
Life-long learning is important and the insights from fellow coursemates provided much support towards my interests. I hope I provided value to them too! 🙌
Still hesitating on candidates with short #tenures? 🙂
Think otherwise, because short career tenures can be like special project assignments requiring precise execution from professionals. 🕵️
As for long tenures, they are necessary for complex deals and projects from seeding to fruition. 🧑💻
I am Mar Vin Foo 🌿🪟.
I have both long and short career tenures, and I conclude, it’s the experience and #learning that matters.
Thank you for expanding my network and broadening my experiences in a short period of time.
Last but not least,
“#People matter, you matter.”
