Manipulation and the slow boiling frog

Are we being gaslighted? Are we the frog in the slow boiling water?

#Gaslighting is to manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity. ~Oxford dictionary

Gaslighters are highly skilled. Chances are, they were bullies in school too. As a philosophical person, I always wonder how real-life bad guys react when they watch a movie where their roles are acted out.

How do they explain themselves to their children or how do they go to sleep knowing they are indeed ‘bad’?

Gaslighters are who they are because of their inferiority complex, hence the need to cover up using hate, fear, sarcasm and manipulation.

Manipulation is generally used because it is less easy to detect in a work environment. By making people look seemingly useless, they are able to portray themselves in good light.

So what about the slow boiling frog syndrome? The frog which is being boiled slowly is the victim of the gaslighter or perpetrator.

In this instance, the frog eventually succumbs to the boiling water because it wasn’t aware about the slow changing environment.

We could be victims of gaslighters, hence it’s important to raise our #selfawareness by re-evaluating ourselves from time to time.

As a slow-boiled frog, get some ice from friends to cool the soup, regain sanity and control. Self-awareness is key.
